About the Fountain staircase
The staircase was built in 1853 according to plans drawn up by the architect Jean-Baptiste Lassus (1807-1857), famous for his restoration of the Sainte-Chapelle in Paris. It contains a double flight of steps and a balustrade of neo-Gothic inspiration.
At its base is a pond in the centre from which a cast iron fountain emerges, which gave its name to the place.
