The Saint-Hilaire Palestre

Mosaic personalities training in the arts of wrestling, pugilism and physical combat leap from this part of the wall. The gymnastic games of the palestre (Greek sports-ground) now form a new scene in "La Nuit des Chimères" 2006 production. The Saint-Hilaire Roman wall dates from the third century. Facing the square des Tanneries, it runs alongside the Sarthe, between the Ardents tower and the Tucé tower, which shares its name with the adjacent 16th century private residence.
